Wife of the Year - 2009

Is it too early to put in my nomination for wife of the year?  If not, let me put in my nomination right now.  Yesterday morning as we were driving into Phoenix to pick up our friend Kim from the airport we were discussing what we would do while he was here.  I mentioned that the Arizona Cardinals had their playoff game and that it was against my team, the Atlanta Falcons.  I told her that they were having a hard time selling all the tickets so we might be able to find some for a good price.  She mentioned that she wanted to get me tickets before but all the games were on Sunday and too expensive so she didn't pursue it much further.

After we got Kim we had some errands to run down in Mesa and then we headed to Cafe Rio for lunch.  I brought it up again and she suggested when we got back that I look on Stubhub.com or Craigslist to see if we could find anything.  The game started at 2:30 and we got home at about 1:15 so I didn't have much time to mess around.  I found nothing on Stubhub that was affordable but there were numerous offers on Craigslist.  So we called around.

The first two numbers we called were for lower bowl tickets and were in the price range.  Both people said they had just sold the tickets just seconds before.  I was bummed and running out of options so in a last minutes attempt I refreshed the browser and an new poster had posted a pair of tickets for less than what I wanted to pay.  I was stoked.  The only concern was it was though EBAY and the tickets were to be emailed to me.  Brittney was skeptical about it but I really wanted to go so I made the purchase and paid immediately just as instructed.  It was about 2:05 by now.  I spent the next 10-15 minutes refreshing my hotmail browser waiting for the tickets.  By about 2:17 we had our tickets in hand and were out the door.  And thankfully, the stadium is very close.  We made it with 10:30 left in the first quarter and only missed the first touchdown by the Cardinals.

We sat on the very last row in the stadium and we were both winded after walking to the top.  Not to mention the burning of our quads.  The view was still great and even though the Falcons lost it was an awesome experience to be at the game.  NFL games are hard to come by when the majority are played on Sunday.  It was also memorable as it was the Cardinals first playoff win.

Brittney, I love you.  Thank you for for putting up with all I do and for the male bonding time you have to endure when Kim comes to town.

I'm glad you guys were able to do that. I'm jealous, though, you know I would've been right there with you!

PS Time to start doing a few more squats (or something) if a flight of stairs burns your quads. Don't worry, I'll give the same advice to Kim!
